"I have found so much beauty in the dark as I have found a lot of horrors in the light"
This painting is very textual and has a deep meaning. When making this I was in a sad place and needed something to show my emotions. I began to experiment with warmer colors fading into lighter colors and etc. All in all I wanted the blue to look as if it was outlining the red and black but not necessarily blending or touching. It not only shows contrast within the painting but also within the quote.
Controlled Beauty
This started off as a drawing and I eventually used pastels and chalk to fill in everything. Once again I experimented with using contrasting colors to bring out a sense of eeriness/ emotion. I was mostly doing this piece of art for fun and I like how the shading turned out and how the contrast between colors makes the picture look more alive.
Fly me to the Moon
This piece was inspired by the show the 100. I love this show and I have always dreamed about one day making a journey into space. The show puts emphasis on the earth being destroyed and having to live in space until the community of people found a planet suitable to live on. In conclusion, this was just a fun piece of art to make and I collaborated with Brenna Dolan.
Arting with my Hands
This process took a while to complete but I am in love with how it all turned out. To begin, I cut the clay into two one pound and half a pound pieces. I wedged each piece into a cone shape to allow all air in the clay to leave, otherwise in the kiln the air would cause the bowls to explode. Once I have the perfect wedged pieces I start to throw and perfect the shape I want. After all that I wait for the pot to dry almost into a leather hard dry so I can remove any flaws on the bowl. Once I fire it in a bisque fire I can then glaze it. The clay I used is cone 6 so I had to make sure I used the right glaze. I use glaze that was made through ingredients rather than premade that way I can dip my pots in the glaze to get an even coating. If I wanted to add any details such as a leaf, you would have to score and slip the clay in order to adhere it to the other piece of clay. You would also have to use slip which acts as a glue to make sure it really sticks.
